The building which is also known as the Old Hill Street Police Station, was erected in 1934 to house the Hill Street Police Station and Barracks.
The primary purpose of this building is to house 2 Singapore government ministries, specifically the Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth; and the Ministry of Communications and Information. On the ground floor, however, are several art galleries with various mainly Asian art for sale. It's easy enough to just admire the building as you walk along the river towards Clarke Quay.
