The Eurocity train requires 3:40 hrs for 285km route from Zurich (Switzerland) to Milano (Italy) including 5 stops in Switzerland and one stop in Italy.
There are 17 direct trains (between 6:30 am and 8:00 pm) running on the route from Zurich to Milano every day.
The train on the photo, on the route from Zurich to Milano, is passing the town of Arth on Lake Zug and approaching the famous 15 km long St. Gotthard railway tunnel.
After opening the new 57 km long St. Gotthard Base Tunnel in 2016 (currently under construction), the train journey from Zurich to Milano will be shortened by one hour. At completion the St. Gotthard Base Tunnel will be the longest railway tunnel in the world.
